Military Installations in Colorado Springs, CO
The United States Air Force Academy sits northwest of downtown central. Peterson Air Force Base is located on the east of the city, while Fort Carson Army Base and Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Base are both south of the city. Schriever Air Force base is farthest east. Commute Time for Colorado Springs, CO
The national average commute time throughout large cities is about 52 minutes each way. With Colorado Springs’ wide-spread footprint, traffic and commute times are reasonable. The average commute here is just 22 minutes each way – 30 minutes less than the big city average! Many of the early-start long commuters head north towards Denver and return back late evening. If your drive is located within the city, or headed in the opposite direction, you’ll experience shorter commute times.
Most military personnel drive, however city-wide bus routes and ample bike paths provide additional options. Over 100 miles of bike routes weave throughout the city, connecting all of the military installations by trail. The Colorado Springs Public Transit Buses begin between 5am and 7am and continue until 9pm. Buses are timed to hit each stop every half hour.

Manitou Springs – 22 minute commute
Voted one of the Coolest Small Towns in the U.S., Manitou Springs is a historic district known for its natural mineral springs.
